FCA Club Volleyball
Why Club Sports?
In and through our Brevard County FCA club sports, we have the opportunity to carry out FCA’s mission, which is “to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church." As well as their vision, "to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes."
Many of these athletes have been playing these sports from a very young age. Now, as upperclassmen in high school, they play on travel teams and are seen by college recruiters at tournaments played all across the state and country. The ultimate goal is to get a college scholarship, which hopefully leads to playing professionally. The reality is, a very small percentage of athletes go on to play in college, and less than 1% end up signing a professional contract. Needless to say, at some point the dream will end for every athlete. When that time comes there are many questions. One being, “Now what?”
Throughout the athlete’s time spent with our FCA teams and Chaplains, they will be constantly reminded of Jesus’ words in Mark 8:36: “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?”
Our goal with all players is to help them realize that God has blessed them with the ability to play a sport...but a sport is not their life. Being an athlete is a part of their life they have been given to be used as a vehicle to bring God glory, on and off the field or court. When this calling is understood, suddenly the pressures that often consume them begin to dissipate. They become aligned with God’s will and purpose for their life. When that alignment takes place, the mission begins...to be Ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).
